Time to Wrap Up

Thursday was another positive day for Filly. By taking off work early, CMK was able to have the splints & wraps off her for 3 1/2 hours. An hour of that time was spent in the small paddock behind the barn. Filly sure enjoys her time out of the stall. When it was time to go back inside, Mama went in to her dinner. Filly wanted nothing to do with going back inside. She called & demanded that her mother go back outside. When that didn't work, she started bucking in place. She's gotten really good at bucking without tripping or stumbling. She did a few running laps up & down the barn aisle way. When Mama still didn't respond, Filly started to chew on the halters hanging on the wall. She was very curious about everything outside her small 12x24 world. After 25 minutes she decided it was time to eat & take a nap.
Dancing Winds came over before dark to help with the rewrapping & splinting. With all the practice, the procedure goes quick & smooth. When DW & CMK left the stall, Filly lay still for a few minutes & then got up. Oh how her mood had changed. She was so depressed to have her legs wrapped up again. She stood with lip hanging, ears droopy, & a listless look in her eye. Poor little girl had enjoyed her freedom. When she finally moved she would only drag her feet. It was heartbreaking to see her so sad. Hopefully she'll continue to strengthen so she can soon be without her splints. Thursday was a great day because Filly no longer has diarrhea. Yahoo! At last it seems her little stomach is finally normal. What a relief.
